Why do the turntables no longer use battery supply?

We started out using a high grade lead acid battery supply because this works better than mains supply when DC regulator design is very basic. However, with improved DC regulation, mains supply offers better performance in every respect. Some people find this puzzling: the easiest analogy is to say that it's a bit like harnessing and smoothing the Niagara falls instead of using a smooth trickle.

Are there discounts for purchasing additional items?

We have structured our pricing to reflect the fact that additional items such as tonearms and the Upgrade Transformer will most often be purchased as an upgrade to an existing turntable. The Upgrade Transformer is designed to replace the inexpensive wall wart transformer and the savings involved are so minimal that they are not worth the complication; we decided to keep things simple and lower the price accordingly.
