AURORA MK2

"Surely the best £750 black disc spinner in outright sonic terms" HI FI WORLD 2008

AURORA MK1

"Swish looks; clear precise presentation; realistic vocals; full-bodied attack; thrilling dynamics"
What Hi-Fi?, Oct 2003

"A stellar performer with a wonderfully realistic presentation: if you can't afford a £3000 CD player try this instead...
...The moment you spin some vinyl, the sound stuns. The Aurora gives vocals great solidity and excellent detail. This is what vinyl's all about - close your eyes and you'll believe the singers are in your room...delivers realism of the highest order. And tonal balance is spot on: the bass bounds along but never obscures the midrange or treble. Switch to Nirvana's attack on the higher frequencies and the turntable remains unruffled and there's no evidence of harshness. There is however proof of superb attack and rigid bass....dynamics are excellent, which means continually engrossing performances and edge of the seat listening. You also get a vast, room filling soundstage .. the sonic news couldn't be better ... It looks like a star and sounds like heaven - a class leader in every respect".

Introduction

The Aurora Mk2 turntable follows in the steps of its high performance predecessor but with improved looks and still higher performance. Derived in many aspects from Origin Live’s award winning Aurora Gold - it represents unrivalled performance at this price point AND well above it. The Aurora MK2 will comfortably outperform many more expensive decks even when fitted with inexpensive tone arms and cartridges. Investing that little bit extra in the turntable almost always results in a considerable overall saving.
The strengths of the Aurora MK2 lie in its superb transparency, coupled with tangible sound staging and imaging. It is very neutral and will suit most systems exceptionally well. You can expect this turntable to give you many years of listening pleasure.

Feature highlights

The Aurora MK2 has a decoupled sub-chassis that is non suspended (not sprung).

OPTIONS

If the OL1 arm is purchased with the deck, a stainless steel rear arm stub is included free of charge- although this is not the full structural upgrade, it still offers a big step up from the standard OL1 arm.

Upgrade transformer - To radically improve the performance of the deck you can add the Origin Live upgrade transformer for £195

Finishes - Mirror finish black is the standard plinth finish however we offer clear polished acrylic, frosted acrylic and polished white as other options for £150 - see below for examples of clear finish. Note: Clear, white and frosted finishes use the thicker Calypso plinth and can be upgraded to full Calypso specification.

Different arm fitting - The Aurora can accommodate most arms by simply changing the sub-chassis plate. Subchassis plates are available for SME, Linn, Graham, Hadcock arms for an additional £47 as these are specials - All Roksan arms can be fitted using an adaptor at £25. Arms not listed in the above can be quoted individually.

To order or arrange for a demonstration - You can arrange for a demonstration of an Origin Live turntable by:-
A) Contacting one of our dealers.
B) Although it is preferable to have a demonstration, you may not have an Origin Live dealer in your locality. Even if you have a local dealer he may not have invested in stock of the product you want to hear. For these reasons we offer the opportunity to order directly using the online shop. To compensate for the lack of demonstration, a turntable direct order carries a one month, no risk money back guarantee should you wish to return the deck for any reason. This means that you can evaluate the turntable against your existing one ( or another) in your own system and room acoustics. If you live outside the UK, then you should refer to our guidelines on ordering.
